In the rural communities of Wazirpur Upazila, many young children once had limited opportunities for quality early childhood education. Parents often worried about how to prepare their children for primary school while also ensuring their mental, social and emotional development. To address this challenge, Center for Rural Service Society (CRSS) established 24 Learning Roots (LR) Centers for children aged 3–5 years. The LR Centers quickly became joyful spaces for learning and growth. Unlike traditional classrooms, children learn through play, storytelling, songs, dance, drawing and interactive activities. These enjoyable learning methods make the children excited to attend the centers every day. As a result, attendance and participation remain very high. The impact of the LR Centers has been remarkable. After completing their early learning sessions, children who enroll in primary schools perform better than many of their peers. They become more confident, active in classroom activities and capable of adapting to the school environment more easily. Teachers and parents have noticed significant improvements in children’s communication skills, creativity, discipline and learning abilities. Each of the 24 LR Centers is supported by a dedicated Center Management Committee composed of community members and caregivers. Their involvement helps ensure proper management, accountability and sustainability of the centers. At the same time, parents and caregivers receive Positive Parenting sessions from trained project staff. Through these sessions, families learn effective child care practices, emotional support techniques and healthy parenting approaches that contribute to the proper growth and development of children at home. Through these combined efforts, the Learning Roots Centers are not only preparing children for education but also creating a supportive environment where families and communities work together to build a brighter future for the next generation.
