The SURAKKHA Project (2022–2028), funded by Kerk in Actie, is implemented by Center for Rural Service Society in Wazirpur and Agoiljhara to promote climate resilience, IGA, DRR, CCA, and disaster preparedness.
The SURAKKHA Project is being implemented by Center for Rural Service Society (CRSS) with financial support from Kerk in Actie, Netherlands, from October 2022 to September 2028 in Wazirpur and Agoiljhara Upazilas of Barishal District. Currently, the 3rd phase of the project is ongoing. The project aims to strengthen the resilience of climate-vulnerable communities through climate-resilient agriculture, income-generating activities (IGA), women and youth empowerment, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), and community-based disaster preparedness mechanisms. Farmers receive training on climate-smart agriculture and sustainable livelihood practices. The project also supports livestock, poultry, fisheries, handicrafts, and small businesses to improve household income. Awareness programs, leadership training, and volunteer groups help communities become more prepared, resilient, and sustainable.
